2011 Summer Conference
Business for Contractors & Fun for All! The Product/Service Members put on a great product show awarding door prizes every 20 minutes. Electrical contractors learned a lot and sales were made. The grand prize of an iPad2 was won by Michelle Klein.
Thank you to Border States Electric and John Brandt for again awarding the MEA/Border States scholarships. This year the winners were Kristine Provo, the daughter of Tim Provo, Provo Electric, of Corcoran, Carissa Johnson, the daughter of Wade Johnson, Wade’s Electrical Service of Moorhead, and Kevin Leiferman, the son of Gregg Leiferman, G&D Electric Inc of Truman.
Michelle Klein, Klein Electric of St Cloud, spoke to an attentive crowd on “Modern Inconveniences” discussing options on how to make technology work best for you with focus on smart phone technology.
Everybody had a great time at the Rolle Bolle tournament. Master of Ceremonies Everette DeCramer oversaw 12 teams competing for the title. With the weather not cooperating, the tournament was moved inside making play a little more challenging. At the end of the night the winning team of Gerry Maine, Karen’s Electric of St Cloud, Tony Enger, Harrison Electric Minneapolis, and Jerry Hartmann of Federated Insurance took first place. The second place team included John Riley, Bill
Strusinski of WA Strusinski, and Samantha Gjerde of Gatewood Electric.
A special thanks to Border States Electric and John Brandt for their presentation to MEA Board members on new low voltage products and lighting upgrades.
Also, thank you to Scott Francis from Westex for coming up from Chicago to talk to members about arc fault rated clothing.
The rain held off throughout the golf tournament. With 44 players taking the course, the competition made for a close tournament. The winning foursome was Joe Gangl, Ryan Pytleski, and Darren Strafelda of Werner Electric Supply, and Scott Twining, Twining Electric of Duluth. Second place went to Tony Enger, Harrison Electric of Minneapolis, George Cusick, Cooper Bussmann, and Doug and Diana Kahler of Kahler Electric of Fairmont. Rob Olson and the golf tournament winners Elisha Seanger of Melrose Electric took home the Black Jack Sales Pitch of the Meeting Award sponsored by W A Strusinski.
The kids had fun with bingo, the water park, horse riding, and mini-golf.
