Retirements
Jerry Nelson of Nelson Contracting out of Mabel, MN has retired he has been a member since 1972. We wish him the best in his retirement.
Gary & Phyllis Brusacorum... are retiring from AJB this month. Gary Brusacorum's ideas about the needs of MEA's contractors and their stakeholders are directly reflected in the MEA News and the education programs. Gary has helped MEA with fund raising and mentoring for years. The industry has benefitted greatly from his wisdom, kindness and enthusiasm and, while his role may change, he will still be sought out for guidance because he is simply the BEST!

Melrose Electric... Just a note to let you know that Pat Seanger's (Melrose Electric) brother died of heart problems at 50. It is especially sad as he was very close to and well loved by the entire family.

A new MEA baby... Jim & Nancy Grant, proudly told their MEA friends that Jesse & Kolbi Grant gave them a new granddaughter, Lilly Mae. Lilly and Kolbi and healthy and happiness abounds in the Grant family.
Tom Fredericks, American Polywater... Tom was recently appointed from VP of Sales and Marketing to VP/GM Electrical Division. Tom has been with American Polywater Corp for 21 years.
Linda Karwoski... has been a key staff member at the Electrical Licensing and Inspection Unit of the Department of Labor and Industry and recently received a much deserved promotion. Her concern for the industry and her helpfulness are top notch.

James T. Seanger Scholarship Winners... There were two 2009 winners of the "James T. Seanger Memorial Scholarship." Winners are Ashton Conroy of Ortonville and Logan Samuelson of Sauk Centre.
Ken Rowland announced the three winners of the 2009 Border States/MESCO $1000 scholarships... Tara Jackson of Jackson Electric, Taylor Freetly of Freetly Electric, and Mitchell Thune of Nuessmeier Electric. Tara and Taylor (pictured below) accepted their scholarships and read their essays at the Member Appreciation Dinner; Mitchell was unable to attend the dinner.

Border States Named in 100 Largest Employee-owned Companies in the U.S.... Border States Electric (BSE) has again been named one of the 100 largest majority employee-owned companies in the country. Ranked 80th, BSE is also one of three employee-owned companies headquartered in North Dakota on the list. The list is compiled annually by the National Center for Employee Ownership, a private, nonprofit membership and research organization in Oakland, California. Dakota Supply Group has purchased Shelter Supply... A well-respected distributor of HVAC products formerly located in Burnsville, Shelter Supply will become part of DSG's Mechanical Group and will operate out of DSG's St. Paul, MN location. DSG will continue to provide comprehensive training and technical assistance with the application of innovative and eco-friendly building practices. Moves and New Locations
Dakota Supply Group Moves To New Facility in Mitchell, South Dakota... DSG has completed construction on its new building in Mitchell, South Dakota, and is now open for business at 1616 VanDyke Drive. This 20,000-square-foot building has more than three times the total storage space of its former location. It provides Mitchell, SD and the surrounding communities with a broad inventory of electrical, plumbing, heating, waterworks and filtration products.
