Governor Walz Proclaims Ukrainian Solidarity Day in Minnesota



Governor Walz proclaimed Sunday, March 6, 2022, as Ukrainian Solidarity Day to honor the bravery and resiliency of the people of Ukraine as they fight to defend their country and their freedom. Along with a proclamation, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan stood in solidarity with Minnesota's Ukrainian community at a rally at the Minnesota Capitol.

"I'm proud to declare today as Ukrainian Solidarity Day in Minnesota," said Governor Walz. "We stand with our Ukrainian community here in Minnesota and abroad as the brave and resilient people of Ukraine continue to defend freedom and democracy against this unlawful, unprovoked Russian invasion."


Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Joins a Rally for Trans Youth



Also on Sunday, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan joined Minnesotans at a rally for trans youth at the capitol to show that Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan are in the fight to protect our trans and non-binary youth.

"To our trans, queer, and non-binary youth, we will keep showing up for you," said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. "We love you and will keep fighting to keep you safe in Minnesota."


Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Discuss What $300 Million Public Safety Proposal Would Mean for Washington County



Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan stopped in Stillwater on Wednesday as part of their statewide public safety tour. They discussed what their $300 million public safety plan would mean for Washington County and communities across the state. Under the Walz-Flanagan Budget to Move Minnesota Forward, Washington County would receive nearly $1.7 million per year to invest in public safety.


Governor Walz, Public Safety Officials to Discuss What $300 Million Public Safety Proposal Would Mean for St. Cloud



Following his stop in Washington County, Governor Walz went to St. Cloud as part of his statewide public safety tour to discuss what his public safety budget – including $300 million for cities, counties, and tribes – would mean for St. Cloud and communities across the state. Under the Walz-Flanagan Budget to Move Minnesota Forward, St. Cloud would receive nearly $1.2 million per year to address its public safety needs.



Governor Walz Visits ILT Studios in St. Cloud



Governor Walz and Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Grove visited ILT Studios in St. Cloud on Thursday to discuss the importance of supporting Minnesota's startups. 

"Minnesota's economy is strong. Let's keep it strong by supporting our state's startups – like ILT Studios in St. Cloud," said Governor Walz. "My budget proposal to expand economic opportunity will grow our economic future and foster the next generation of big ideas."



Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Celebrate International Women's Day

On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, Governor Walz proclaimed International Women's Day in Minnesota. To celebrate, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor took to social media to honor the women and girls in their lives who continue to inspire them every day. They also recommitted to ensuring every woman and girl have equal protection under the law.

"On International Women's Day, we celebrate the leadership and contributions of women since time immemorial," said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. "We recommit to ensuring every woman and girl can exercise their choices, are free from discrimination, have equal protection, and can be their full, powerful selves."



Governor Walz Proclaims Harriet Tubman Bicentennial Day

Governor Walz proclaimed Thursday, March 10, 2022, as Harriet Tubman Bicentennial Day. The day observes Harriet Tubman's 200th birthday. 

"In observance of Harriet Tubman's 200th birthday, we proclaim today as Harriet Tubman Bicentennial Day to honor her legacy and commitment to freedom and rededicate ourselves to the timeless principles she upheld," said Governor Walz.
