How are you using AI?

by Clara Albert, CAE, Executive Director

I am sure many of you have heard the buzz about ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence tool that can write original material?  Poetry, computer code, your child’s 10th-grade history essay…you name it, ChatGPT (and several other AI tools that hit the internet in the past couple of months) can write it. Or at least produce a decent first draft. It has been so popular lately that OpenAI’s servers can’t handle all the traffic. AI, which used to be the stuff of social media algorithms and self-driving cars, may now be accessible and useful for the rest of us.

How can you use it in your business? The possibilities are truly endless. Think about marketing campaigns, website content, customer email responses, cover letters, job offers, and employee reviews.

I used an AI tool within the Canva software called Magic Write, very similar to ChatGPS. I asked it to Create a compelling pitch for a high school student to choose the electrical industry for their career path.

It created:
If you’re looking for a career path that offers a variety of opportunities, the electrical industry may be the perfect fit for you! With an education in the electrical field, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a wide range of industries and fields, from large-scale energy production to residential electrical services. Not only that, but the electrical industry is in constant demand, so you can be sure to have plenty of job security and stability. Plus, you’ll have the chance to pursue further education in the field and stay current with the latest technologies and trends. With all these advantages, the electrical industry is an excellent choice for a high school student looking to pursue a successful and rewarding career path!

Not bad! This is all in beta form and I am sure we will see more and more enhancements coming our way at rapid speed.

One of the biggest takeaways that I see from the pandemic is that everyone’s value of time has changed—prioritizing the things that truly matter to us in life. What if this could allow you to cut time off of pesky tasks that you don’t even enjoy doing so you can get home to your family? Spend some time getting creative on how new technology and resources can help you. And let us continue to be a resource for making your life easier.
