As part of the Electrical Association's training package, we have started an online library of short videos covering some basic electrical information. The videos are designed to help the person who is just entering the field.

TRADE JARGON IN THE ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY (8 minutes)
Learn a handful of electrical terms that you will hear on a day-to-day basis out in the field.

ELECTRICAL RACEWAYS (10 minutes)
A basic description of 6 different materials that electrical raceways are made of, when to use them and why. Includes PVC, IMC, EMT, FMC, RMC, LFMC.


RACEWAYS FITTINGS (20 minutes)
A basic description of which fittings to use and how to use them to connect raceways to boxes or to other raceways.


TYPES OF BOXES (10 minutes)

•  Device Boxes, Junction Boxes, Vapor Barrier Boxes
•  Interior Capacity, Gangs
•  New Work v. Remodel
•  Materials: plastic, fiberglass, phenolic, steel, cast steel
•  Characteristics: ferrous, shallow, deep, continuous, left or right

•  Enclosures

BASIC HAND TOOLS FOR ELECTRICIANS (10 minutes)
•  Overview of the correct tools to use for the right project
•  Knowing how to use them, when to use them, caring for them and practicing safety
