Developed and regularly updated by experienced electrical contractors, this curriculum meets the 144-hour Related Technical Instruction (RTI) requirement and is backed by certified trainers and IACET-accredited instruction.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How many hours do I need to complete before I can take the MN Journeyman Exam?
➡️ You’ll need 8,000 hours of on-the-job training (OJT).
➡️ If you’ve graduated from a 2-year approved trade school, you may qualify with 6,000 hours.
➡️ The Electrical Association’s apprenticeship classes do not count as trade school credit and do not reduce the 8,000-hour requirement.

Will this program meet requirements in other states?
➡️ Our program is built for Minnesota licensing, but may qualify in other states. Please verify with your state’s licensing board before enrolling.

🛠️ Registered Apprenticeship

The Electrical Association partners with the Electrical Training Network (ETN) of MN, a DLI-approved program that provides a registered apprenticeship structure to member companies.

✔️ ETN standards are approved by the Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry (DLI)
✔️ Participating companies must follow the program standards
